Oil moved little this week and hung out mostly in the low $40s, except for Tuesday, when it dipped into the $30s for the first time since April 18.
West Texas Intermediate futures contracts for September delivery rose 20 cents (0.5 percent) this week, finishing Friday at $41.80 a barrel, down 13 cents (0.31 percent) on the day.
Tuesday’s settlement snapped 73 consecutive days above $40 after the price closed at $39.51, the lowest price since April 7. The high for the week was $41.93 on Thursday. WTI fell three times this week and rose two.
WTI is up $5.04 (13.71 percent this year). In 150 trading days, the price has finished positive 68 times and negative 82 times. It’s been in the $40 range 79 times and in the $50s four times.
The year-high is $51.23, and the low is $26.21.
